Is it possible...

To miss someone you've never met?
To weep, inconsolable, for a lost love not yet begun?

Is it possible...

To crave phantom kisses?
To feel so empty, so bare, when you've never been full?

Is it possible...

To want you more than anything?
You...who are you?

I find it impossible, improbable, preposterous, even...
Yet...
I find it the constant in my life, my soul, a missing piece, real...

Is it possible...
To miss someone you've never met?

Author's Comments

This is my second post today, and I apologize profusely for that. The picture was something I'd tried to submit before, but it didn't work, and this poem is something that I was just thinking of, and feeling, so here it is.

Once again, I apologize.

Comments and critiques always more than welcome folks-xoxo

Remember that at any given moment
there are a thousand things
you can love.

Well done poem, Cortney! :-)

I've experienced this exact emotion more than once in my online experiences, playing online games with people in different states and different countries, and yet feeling they were almost in the same room as you. I would chat with them at the same time almost every night, and know them better than my coworkers and some real-world friends. What sweet sadness is, that most of the people we meet online, we are too far away and too poor to meet in person. (Yeah, lemme just jump right into my private jet.....lol) I'm sure there will be many books written on this subject....and you just may write one..I can see it now... "Superstitious13.....author of "Virtually Yours" on the New York Times Bestseller list 13 weeks in a row!"

Ahhhh the memories.....thanks, sweetie! :rose:

i like it, it's a little short, i might have liked it better had it been more discriptive, though short poems can be very powerful, but because of the repeat of the first and last line, i find it makes the poem seem even shorter. but what do i know
it's wonderful doll
i miss you

I disagree with Meghan..I think the repitition is good for the message you're trying to get across..those constant questiosn that flood us...I liked this..not your best..but well written...and don't worry about making two deviations in one day, you're deviations are ALWAYS looked forward to
